written april 4, 2009. this song coincided with my learning how to play the banjo. the banjo part in this song is the first banjo part i've ever played. the song itself is special to me because the "tree" actually represents a very important person in my life who, during the writing of this song, i thought i would lose forever.
lyrics
My, oh my, what a great climbing tree! I could sit for hours in your branches and leaves. Oh, I don't want to go home.
Deep inside the forest, I'm the only one who knows the swirls of your roots like my fingers and toes. Oh, I don't want to go home.
When I walked out here last spring, your leaves a bright delicious green, you're my ladder to the sky. Oh my, oh my
You'll still be standing tall when I am lying in the ground. I hope for all the joy you'll bring the next time you are found. Oh, I don't want to go home.
